Victorious in the state tournament, the Tigers carried their honors back to an extremely proud hometown. The tallest overall team in state tournament history placed two members on the all-tournament team, with junior center Brian Shanks and senior forward Harold Hill receiving the honor.

Shanks and Hill were also elected to the 1973 all-state teams. Brian was placed on the first team, while Harold found himself on the second team.

For the Tigers as a team, Rick Long, Hill and Shanks were voted in a three-way tie for Most Valuable Player. Jim Stephens was named Most Improved, and Mike Melstad received the Most Inspirational player award. Co-captains were tabbed as Long and Hill.

In overall team statistics, Shanks finished as the leading scorer with 515 points, for an average of 21.5 points per game. Shanks also led with a 57 percent shooting accuracy from the field. At the free throw line, Hill hit 53 of 71 attempts for a 74 percent accuracy.

Shanks led in both total rebounds, with 205, and defensive rebounds, with 131. Stephens grabbed 77 offen­sive rebounds to lead the Bengals in that category. Dave Tate led the team with 43 stolen balls, and Shanks led in blocked shots with an even 100. Hill led the team in assists with 90.

With an overall record of 16-8, the Tigers had a game average of 60.3 points. They had a shooting average of 53 percent and a season total of 754 rebounds.
