2023 281 All-conference teams announced

IROQUOIS — Two players from Wessington Springs and two from James Valley Christian were named to the All-281 Conference boys’ basketball first team.

Selected to the first team for the Spartans, who won the 281 Conference title, were junior Blake Larson and sophomore Ryder Michalek.

Named to the first team for JVC were seniors Landon Wager and Landon Wallman.

Also named to the first team was junior Tate French of Wolsey-Wessington.

Making up the second team were senior Blaze Herdman of Wolsey-Wessington; senior Trey Knox of Highmore-Harrold; junior Jeff Boschee of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket; senior Logan Peskey of Iroquois/Lake Preston; and senior TJ Salmen of Hitchcock-Tulare.

The third team consisted of senior Mason Knox of Highmore-Harrold; senior Carter Binger of Hitchcock-Tulare; freshman Parker Graff of Wessington Springs; and sophomore Moshe Richmond and freshman Caleb Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington.

Honorable mention went to senior Nolan Triebwasser of Sunshine Bible Academy; freshman Dax Frandsen of James Valley Christian; junior Carson Stephenson of Highmore-Harrold; senior Riccardo Maurovic of Wolsey-Wessington; and senior Bryce Bourk of Highmore-Harrold.

Girls
Wolsey-Wessington, which claimed the 281 Conference girls’ title this season and went on to finish third in Class B, had three players named to the first team of the All-281 Conference team.

Representing the Lady Warbirds were seniors Leah Williams, Mallory Miller and Mya Boomsma.

Also named to the first team were junior Avery Orth of Wessington Springs and sophomore Kaylie Robinson of James Valley Christian.

Second team honors went to freshman Liz Boschee of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket; sophomore Adison Moore of Iroquois/Lake Preston; sophomore Katelyn Schroeder of Hitchcock-Tulare; sophomore Alexa Goertz of James Valley Christian; and senior Kirstie Munsen of Wessington Springs.

The third team consisted of sophomore Brooke Palmer of Highmore-Harrold; junior Kennadie Ochsner of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket; junior Carissa Scheel of Wessington Springs; freshman Hadlee Holt of Iroquois/Lake Preston; and freshman Cambree Hoekman of Hitchcock-Tulare.

Earning honorable mention were senior Taylor Horn and junior Lainey Uttecht of Wolsey-Wessington; junior Jaycee Baruth and junior Kamryn Ochsner of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket; and senior Kate Havlik of Wessington Springs.
