2023 season kicks off at Miller Central Speedway

MILLER — Familiar faces occupied Victory Lane during the opening night of racing on Saturday at Miller Central Speedway.

Chad Becker of Aberdeen added to his win total with a victory in the WISSOTA late model feature race.

Becker started third and made his way to the front of the 9-car field, which took the green. Justin Karlen of Howard was second, while Curt Kranz of Watertown was third.

Rounding out the top five in the late model main event were Dustin Arthur of St. Lawrence and Jayson Good of Watertown.

Arthur and Becker secured the late model heat wins.

Mike Stearns of Aberdeen held off Dale Ames of Huron for the win in the 15-lap WISSOTA modified feature race. Kelly Duffy of Winner was third and Tyler Anglin of Aberdeen was fourth.

Stearns also won the lone modified heat race.

Trevor Nelson of Warner inked the win in the 15-lap WISSOTA super stock main event.

Jeremy North of Huron moved up two spots to finish second, while Nathan Grehl of Hitchcock was third. Rounding out the top five were Corey Elward of Mitchell and Brad Kopecky of Miller.

Nelson claimed the win in the lone super stock heat race.

Tommy Nichols of Watertown held off Matt Heinzerling of Spearfish for the win in the WISSOTA Midwest modified main event.

Mike Nichols of Watertown was third, followed by Jayme Peterson of Highmore and James Reiner of Wessington Springs.

Collecting Midwest modified heat wins were Reiner and Cory Berquist of Huron.

A total of 20 cars were on hand in the WISSOTA street stock division. Maria Broksieck of Goodwin started on the pole and stayed out front to earn the win in the 12-lap feature race.

Andy Rossow of Florence was second, while Broc Stout of Winner worked his way from sixth to finish third. Jodie Michaelsohn of Aberdeen was fourth and James Hoing of Kimball was fifth.

Heat race wins in the street stock division went to Clifforad Houser of Kimball, Michaelsohn and Stout.

Jayden Michaelsohn of Aberdeen worked his way from seventh to first in the Pump-N-Pak pure stock main event.

Cody Songer of Wolsey was second, followed by Andy Brooker of Tulare and Scott Hoffer of Winner.

Racing returns to Miller Central Speedway on Saturday with a Pure Stock Special, which pays $500 to win. In addition to the pure stocks, the other five classes will also be in action at 7 p.m.
