HURON — With the first five goals of the game, Aberdeen Central handed the Huron boys’ soccer team a 5-1 loss on Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.

“It was a rough game tonight,” Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. “Aberdeen came out ready to go and we didn’t respond.”

It was the first victory of the season for the Golden Eagles, who are now 1-3.

Aberdeen Central scored the lone goal in the opening half to carry a 1-0 advantage into the break.

The Golden Eagles then added the first four goals of the second half to make it 5-0.

The lone goal for the Tigers, who are now 2-2-1, came in the 65th minute on a penalty kick by Aung Aung Htoo.

Micah Larson tallied 10 saves in the net for Huron.

“We were down three starters due to injury and also some players feeling under the weather and playing not at 100%.” Branaugh said.

Aberdeen Central also claimed a 5-2 win in the junior varsity game.

Elder Morales had both the goals for the Tigers. Jaxon Andru had five saves, while Klo Hser had three saves.

Huron will travel to face Brookings on Sept. 5

Aberdeen Central cruised to a 10-0 victory in the varsity girls’ game.

Ya Tha Naw had four saves in the goal during the first half for the Tigers (0-4). Hkee Hser inked nine saves in the second half.

In the JV girls’ game, Aberdeen Central emerged with a 7-0 win.
