All-Stars earn first win of the season

SIOUX FALLS — The Huron All-Stars earned its first win of the season on Friday.

The All-Stars used an overtime goal on a power play by Ethan Busch to secure a 4-3 victory against Brandon Valley. Jack Pedersen and Jonas Bucklin assisted on the play.

Brandon Valley led 2-1 at the end of the opening period.

Busch opened the scoring for Huron, finding the net with Brecken Glanzer and Pedersen earning assists.

Pedersen scored just over a minute into the second period to even the score for the All-Stars. Glanzer and Busch were credited with assists.

Glanzer put Huron in front with the team’s second goal of the second period.

Elliot Hartman and Grady Bott assisted on the goal.

Brandon Valley had the lone goal in the third period to force the overtime.

Kaleb Rashaad stopped 26 of the 29 shots he face in the net for the All-Stars to earn the victory. Huron had 24 shots on goal.

On Saturday, Oahe tallied eight goals on 61 shots to earn an 8-5 win against Huron.

Busch had the first goal for the All-Stars on a pass from Hartman in the opening period, which ended with the Capitals leading 2-1.

Each team had three goals in the second period.

Grady Bott scored twice for Huron. The first was assisted by Monte Bogh, while the second was assistedby Bucklin.

Busch had the other goal in the second period for the All-Stars. He scored on a pass from Bucklin.

Huron was limited to just a goal in the final period, while Oahe found the net three times.

Glanzer scored for the All-Stars, with Pedersen and Alex Timm assists.

Jack Bales had 53 saves in the net for Huron.

The All-Stars faced Sioux Center on Sunday at Bergman Arena, however, results from that game were not available at press time.

Huron will travel to face Sioux Center at 8 p.m. Friday, then play Sioux Falls 2 at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
