All-Stars open season with pair of setbacks

MITCHELL — The Huron All-Stars opened the 2023 league season with a pair of tough losses.

Mitchell scored five goals in the second period en route to an 82-2 victory against Huron on Friday.

Ethan Busch had both of the goals for the All-Stars. The first came on a pass from Grady Bott in the second period to make it 5-1, while the second was on an unassisted shot in the third period to cap the scoring in the game.

Mitchell tallied 34 shots on goal in the game, while Huron managed 21. Jack Bales recorded 25 saves in the net for the All-Stars.

Sioux Falls West build a 5-0 lead en route to a 10-1 win against Huron on Saturday.

Busch had the lone goal for the All-Stars in the second period on a pass from Bott.

The Flyers outshot Huron 53-14 in the game. Kaleb Rashaad had 43 saves for the All-Stars.

Huron will travel to face Brandon Valley at 8:15 p.m. Friday, before making their home debut at 7 p.m.

Saturday against Oahe at 7 p.m., at Bergman Arena. The All-Stars will host Sioux Center at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bergman Arena.
