HURON — Allen A. Schiele, age 85, of Huron, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family.
His funeral service is 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial is in the Riverside Cemetery, with military honors by the Huron Veteran’s Council. His service will be live-streamed.
Visitation with family present is from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Allen A. Schiele was born March 13, 1939, to Louis and Veronica (Mosser) Schiele at Anamoose, N.D. He grew up in Drake, N.D., and graduated from Drake High School in 1957. Allen attended Minot State University and graduated with a degree in Business. He also graduated from Hair Trade School.
Allen married Darlene Ziebarth on April 3, 1961, at St. Margaret Church in Drake.
Allen began his career as the beauty director at the Hair Trade School from 1961-1965 in Minot, N. D. and in 1966, Allen began working for Red Owl in Minot. In 1973, the couple moved to Huron where Allen owned and operated Al’s Red Owl until 1988. Allen then joined Mahowald’s Hardware Store and then Hurd’s Alignment, retiring in 1999.
Allen was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed collecting firearms and had an extensive collection. One of Allen’s favorite pastimes was spending time tinkering on his cabin on Lake Byron. Allen cherished the time he was able to spend with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. Allen also loved watching his birds and squirrels out of his front window.
Grateful for having shared in Allen’s life are his wife, Darlene of Huron; two daughters, Roxy (Todd) Peskey of Minot, and Tana (Brad) Berens of Sioux Falls; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandkids; his siblings, Benny (Judy) Schiele, Daniel (Bonnie) Schiele, Dennis (Jane) Schiele, Jerry (Bobbie) Schiele, Donna Gagne, Verneeta Lemar, Ida (Arnie) Stebleton and Kathy (Bill) Vetsch; sisters-in-law, Stella and Pam; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Fanny Schiele; his in-laws, Clarence and Toodie Ziebarth; two sons, Dean Schiele and Kevin Schiele; one grandson, David Peskey; his siblings, Ralph Schiele, Mickey Schatz and Chucky Schiele and one brother-in-law, Bruce Schatz
