Ames wins Modified Special at Miller track

Posted

It started out as a beautiful evening at the Miller Central Speedway with 81 cars in the pits. The evening was sponsored by Ellwein-Bud, Bud Lite, and Busch, who also sponsored the $1,000 to win WISSOTA Modified special. There was a good crowd on hand.

We got through the heats in good order, but with on and off sprinkles it was decided to run the WISSOTA Modified Feature first.

Dylan Zabel led the first seven laps before a caution closed up the field. On the restart Dale Ames and Mike Stearns passed him on both sides with Ames taking the lead and running away from Stearns for the win with Cayden Schmelling, Derek Hanson and Zabel rounding out the top five.

It was Ames’ 14th Modified feature win at the Miller Central Speedway.

In the Pump N Pak Pure Stocks Mike Hammill drew outside pole on the redraw and cruised away from the field to win over Scott Hoffer, Mackenzie Kopecky, Cody Songer and Wyatt Schweigert. It was Hammill’s 17th feature win, tying Jordan Rawstern for 3rd on the list.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks rolled out 18 strong with Jayden Bogh leading the first three laps before Broc Stout took command for three more.

Stout got out of shape on a restart, with Andy Rossow taking the point.

With two laps to go the rain got heavy and the race was ended two laps early.

The top five was Rossow, Matt Goth, Kyle Bertram, Maria Broksieck and Stout. It was Andy’s second feature win at Miller.

The rain stopped and they were trying to organize another feature when a call was placed to the weather service and were told that lightning was 30 minutes away so the rest of the program was postponed.

The three remaining feature will be made up this Friday night, along with the scheduled program for Friday, the Tri-State Late Model Series. There will be no WISSOTA Modifieds Friday night, but the other five classes will be competing. Starting time is 7 p.m.
