HURON — Annexation of a 127-acre parcel of land on the east side of Huron for industrial and commercial development has been approved by the City Commission.
Its action on Monday followed approval by the Joint Planning Commission last month.
The property, located along Highway 14, east of Custer Avenue, will be home to the new Vantage Business Park being developed. The highway frontage is zoned for general commercial and the balance of the land is zoned for general industrial.
In a recent report to city commissioners, Greater Huron Development Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer David McGirr said that during the process of purchasing the land, GHDC received inquiries from three major new industries which were taking a serious look at South Dakota.
