CWL girls win team title, JVC runner win boys individual title on Monday

WEBSTER — Clark/Willow Lake and James Valley Christian finished first and second, respectively, in the girls’ varsity division during the Webster Invite on Monday.
Freshman Kamryn Nesheim earned the medalist honors to lead the Cyclones to a 10-point win over the Lady Vikings. CWL finished with 28 points.
Potter County was third at 53, followed by Deuel at 56 and Warner at 58.
Nesheim turned in a winning time of 20:30.28 over the 5,000-meter distance for the Cyclones, while teammate Faith Roehrich was fifth at 21:24.68. Jennifer Bevers was 11th for CWL at 22:16.84 and Cadence Bochek was 15th at 22:49.23.
Rounding out the lineup for the Cyclones were Emma Bochek, who was 17th at 22:55.19, and Hadley Gjerde, who was 21st at 23:08.68.
Hadasah Olson was third overall to lead JVC at 21:12.79, while Daril Frandsen was seventh at 21:40.15 and Andee Frandsen was 12th at 22:22.64.
Micaiah Brantner was 25th for the Lady Vikings at 24:10.91, Followed by Rylin Wipf, who was 35th at 25:38.70.
Dax Frandsen of James Valley Christian was the winner in the varsity boys’ race. He turned in a time of 18:12.81 to lead the Vikings to a third-place finish in the team standings.
Frederick Area won the boys’ title with 33 points, while Deuel was second at 35, which was just a point ahead of JVC.
Ryder Graff of Sisseton ran second to Frandsen in the boys’ varsity race with a time of 18:13.49, while Kaden Ober was third for the Vikings at 18:28.43.
Rounding out the top five were Milo Sumption of Frederick Area at 18:32.29 and Korbin Stark of Faulkton Area at 18:43.60.
Tayne Herrmann was 17th for JVC at 20:27.88, while Giddeon Waldner was 20th at 20:41.10 and Levi Crandall was 23rd at 20:57.91.
Joel Olson rounded out the team for the Vikings, finishing 31st at 21:58.69.
Will Hovde was the top runner for Clark/Willow Lake at 20:46.68, which placed him in spot No. 21. Alex Reil was 38th at 22:21.01 for the Cyclones, while Aksel Gjerde was 48th at 24:07.90.
