Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 66, James Valley Christian 10
WOLSEY — The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks, top seed in the 281 Conference girls’ tournament, jumped out to a 48-3 lead by halftime on the way to a 66-10 victory over the James Valley Christian Lady Vikings in open round action Thursday in Wolsey.

Liz Boschee led the scoring for the Blackhawks, now 7-2, with 18 points. Kaylie Robinson had a strong all-around game, with 10 points, six rebounds, six steals, and three assists.

The Lady Vikings fell to 0-7. Janiyah Waldner was the lone JVC player with multiple baskets, scoring four points.

De Smet 54, Howard 35
DE SMET — Hazel Luethmers had 20 points to lead three players in double figures, as De Smet earned its third straight win with a 54-35 victory against Howard on Tuesday.

After trailing 25-22 at the half, the Lady Bulldogs outscored Howard 32-10 in the second half to secure the victory and improve to 7-3.

Alyssa Asleson and Brooke Jennings added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for De Smet. Luethmers also had 10 rebounds.

Ann Connor led the Tigers, who are now 1-9, with 10 points. Tana Hoyer and Anna Becker added eight and seven points, respectively.

Dakota Spader and Elizabeth Albrecht shared the rebounding honors with five boards each for Howard. Spader also had four steals.

De Smet will face Dawson-Boyd (Minn.) in the Dakota Valley Conference Classic at 3:45 p.m. Saturday at Colman-Egan.

Warner 50, Hitchcock-Tulare 42
WARNER — Warner outscored Hitchcock-Tulare 13-4 in the fourth quarter to claim a 50-42 victory on Tuesday.

A single point separated the teams at each of the quarter stops, with Hitchcock-Tulare holding a 38-37 edge heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Stacia Carda had 20 points to lead the Monarchs, who improved to 6-4. Kenna Leidholt also reached double figures with 14 points, while Courtney Leidholt added eight points.

Katelyn Schroeder had a game-high 24 points for the Lady Patriots, whoa re now 3-4. Grayson Bixler added nine points.

De Smet 62, Howard 51
DE SMET — After trailing by 10 points in the opening half, De Smet rallied for a 62-51 victory against Howard on Tuesday.

Howard led 19-9 after the opening quarter and carried a 31-25 lead into the second half.

The Bulldogs pulled even at 39-39 at the end of the third quarter and then outscore the Tigers 23-12 to secure the win.

“Sophmores Noah Luethmers and Carter Wilkinson hit some big shots for us to overcome a double digit deficit in the first half,” De Smet coach Jeff Gruenhagen said. “Grant Wilkinson posted another big double double.”

Grant Wilkinson finished with a game-high 27 points and had 13 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs, who improved to 4-4. Luethmers had 16 points, while Carter Wilkinson added 11 points.

Ganon Henrich and Same Gigov each had five assists for De Smet.

Carson Hinker led Howard with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Lucas Feldhaus added 12 points and had a team-high five assists.

The Bulldogs will play Luverne (Minn.) in the Dakota Valley Conference Classic at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Colman-Egan. Howard will host Hanson on Tuesday.

WARNER — Hitchcock-Tulare earned its second win of the season with a 51-48 victory against Warner on Tuesday.

The Patriots led 13-7 after the opening quarter and held on for a 24-22 advantage heading into the second half.

Devin Enander led Hitchcock-Tulare, which is now 2-5, with 15 points. Aiden Frankenstein had 12 points, while Patrick Maynard and Briggs LaBrie added nine and eight points, respectively.

Drew Bakeberg finished with 15 points to lead Warner, which is now 6-3. Jesiah Baum had 10 points, while Brayden Kroll had eight points.

Hitchcock-Tulare will play Wessington Springs in the opening round of the 281 Conference Tournament at 6:30 p.m. today in Wolsey.

WILLOW LAKE — In a battle between two 6-1 teams, Castlewood emerged with a 50-38 victory against Clark/Willow Lake on Tuesday.

With 14 points in each of the first two quarters, the Warriors carried a 28-19 lead into the second half.

Jamison Keszler had 19 points to lead Castlewood, which is the top-ranked team in Class B. Bryon Laue also reached double figures with 15 points.

Laue also had a 15 rebounds for the Warriors.

Bo Begeman was the lone player to reach double figures for Clark/Willow Lake with 16 points. Emmerson Larson had eight points, while Chris Bevers and Sully Felberg each had six points.

Felberg snagged eight rebounds for the Cyclones, while Bevers had three assists and Begeman had three steals.
