HURON — The James Valley Christian Lady Vikings led at all the quarter stops and managed to pull away in the fourth quarter for a 53-50 win over the Miller Rustlers in non-conference girls’ basketball Thursday night from the JVC Gymnasium.

Alexa Goetz scored 24 points - all in the first three quarters - and Kaylie Robinson scored 19 - eight in the final stanza - to lead the Lady Vikes to the win as they move to 8-4.

Miller got 14 points from both Morgan Kolda and Aleah Schlechter in the contest, as the Rustlers fall to 8-3.

Miller is back on the road Saturday, traveling to Wessington Springs, while JVC will host Iroquois/Lake Preston on Saturday.

Sully Buttes 49, Hitchcock-Tulare 40
TULARE — The Sully Buttes Chargers used a 19-8 third quarter to overtake the Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots and then held on down the stretch for a 49-40 win Thursday night in non-conference girls’ basketball.

The Lady Pats forged a 24-21 lead at the half, but went cold from the field in the third quarter and never the lead back.

Stevie Wittler scored 24 points and Addison Chicoine added 13 to lead the Chargers, who improve to 6-6 with the win.

Rebecca Hizenga scored 12 to lead H-T and Katelyn Schroeder added 11. The Lady Patriots fall to 3-9 with the loss.

Highmore-Harrold 45, Wolsey-Wessington 38
WOLSEY — The Highmore-Harrold Pirates held the Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds to only two points in the fourth quarter Thursday night, and pulling away for a 45-38 win in 281 Conference girls’ basketball from the Wolsey-Wessington High School Gymnasium.

Jada Baloun led the Pirates, scoring 12 points off the bench, while Addison McDonnell added 10 points and Autumn Fallis claimed eight rebounds in the contest.

The Lady ‘Birds got 11 points from Payton Kemnitz and 10 from Shae Uttecht in the game. Maria Nelson hand nine boards for W-W.

The Lady Warbirds are back in action Tuesday when they host Kimball/White Lake, while Highmore-Harrold hosts Sunshine Bible Academy, also on Tuesday.

Hitchcock-Tulare 54, Sully Buttes 46
TULARE - The Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots used a 21-13 effort in the third quarter to key a comeback and held on for a 54-46 win Thursday in Tulare over the Sully Buttes Chargers.

The Patriots move to 6-6 behind four scorers in double-digits. Jackson Maynard had 17 points and 14 rebounds while Patrick Maynard made five three-point baskets for 15 points and also hauled in 11 rebounds.

Brendan Nowell and Erik Salmen each added 10 points.

Wesley Wittler led Sully Buttes (3-7) with a game-high 22 points.

The Patriots will host James Valley Christian in Hitchcock on Tuesday.
