Wolsey-Wessington 43, Wessington Springs 39
WOLSEY — The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds avenged a tough loss in the 281 Conference championship game, defeating the fourth-ranked Wessington Springs Spartans 43-39 on Thursday in Wolsey.
The Warbirds held a single-point edge after the first quarter, but led by double-figures at times in the second quarter before taking a 24-16 lead into the break. The Spartans couldn’t cut all the way into that lead until the very end of the game, but the Warbirds hit late free throws to seal the victory.
The Warbirds move to 11-3 behind 14 points from Moshe Richmond. Caleb Richmond added 11 points and Payton Rainford had 10 points.
The Spartans fall to 12-2. Parker Graff hit for 12 points, the only Springs player in double figures.
The Spartans host Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Saturday, while the Warbirds face Sanborn Central/Woonsocket.

ELKTON - Grant Wilkinson scored a school-record 46 points as the De Smet Bulldogs earned a 75-64 road victory over the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks in Elkton Thursday.
The Bulldogs move to 8-6 as Noah Luethmers added 14 points.
The Elks fell to 11-4 behind a huge game from Tanner Drietz with 37 points, including six three-pointers. Joseph Nibbe added 10 points.
The Bulldogs travel to Castlewood Saturday.

PARKSTON - In a matchup of two of the best teams in Class “B” Thursday night, the Parkston Trojans had a big 17-6 second quarter that allowed them to take a lead that they’d never give back, edging out the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks 49-47 in Parkston.
The Trojans, ranked second in the state, were led by Berkley Ziebart with 20 points and four rebounds. Keeara Oakley and Mya Thuringer each added 11 points as Parkston moved to 14-2.
The Blackhawks (12-3) were led by Liz Boschee with 15 points before fouling out. Alexa Goertz had 14 points and five rebounds. Kaylie Robinson chipped in 11 points.
The Blackhawks travel to Wolsey-Wessington Saturday.

HIGHMORE - The Lyman Raiders, ranked fourth in the most recent girls’ basketball poll, jumped out to a huge 23-8 lead after the first quarter and coasted to a 65-31 victory Thursday over the Highmore-Harrold Pirates in Highmore.
The Raiders move to 12-2 with the win. No individual statistics were available.
The Pirates were led by Jada Baloun and Elle Stagg with 10 points apiece. Baloun grabbed eight rebounds.
Lyman took the JV game as well, 21-16.
The Pirates host Philip on Saturday.

IROQUOIS — Wessington Springs, which is ranked No. 4 in Class B, defeated Iroquois/Lake Preston 70-59 on Tuesday.
The Spartans led 26-9 after the opening quarter and carried a 39-26 lead into the second half.
Colby Flower finished with a game-high 32 points to lead the Spartans, who improved to 12-1. Parker Graff also reached double figures with 19 points. Sam Poncelow and Karter Mebius added eight and seven points, respectively.
Lucas Peskey had 25 points to lead Iroquois/Lake Preston, while Carter Arbeiter had 11 points. Daunte Glanzer and Ervin Carter added nine and eight points, respectively.
Peskey and Carter shared the rebounding honors for the Sharks, who are now 6-8, with eight boards each.

MILLER — Highmore-Harrold inked its fourth win of the season with a 61-44 victory against Sunshine Bible Academy on Tuesday.
Using a 14-6 run in the second quarter, the Pirates led 32-17 at the half.
Jordan Erfman had 20 points for Highmore-Harrold to lead all scorers.
Caleb Roth had 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Aidan Ferens added 10 points.
Ferens also had a team-high five assists for the Pirates, who are now 4-9, while Brooks McPeak had three steals.
Trey Thieman was the lone player in double figures for SBA with 15 points. Jerome Big Eagle had eight points and six rebounds, while Owan Watson added six points.
Highmore-Harrold is slated to face Kadoka Area at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Action Club Classic in Highmore. Sunshine Bible Academy faces Hitchcock-Tulare in Hitchcock today.

FORESTBURG — Sanborn Central/Woonsocket took early lead and it held up for a 60-54 victory against Ethan on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks, who improved to 9-4, led 13-8 after the first quarter and held a 29-26 advantage at the half.
Landon Jensen had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead Sanborn Central/Woonsocket. Grant Edwards had 13 points, while McCoy Schultz had 12 points and Evan Easton added eight points.
Edwards and Bryce Larson each had four assists for the Blackhawks, while Schultz tallied five steals.

Cambree Hoekman had 10 points to lead Hitchcock-Tulare, which improved to 6-9, while Katelyn Schroeder added nine points and Regan Lutter had six points.
Addison Kleinsasser had four points to lead James Valley Christian, which is now 0-13.
Both teams return to action today. Hitchcock-Tulare hosts Sunshine Bible Academy in Hitchcock, while the Lady Vikings hosts Faulkton Area.
