Elkton 55, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0
LAKE PRESTON — The Elkton-Lake Benton Elks, ranked fifth in the most recent Class 9AA poll, spoiled homecoming for the Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks Friday, pulling out a 55-0 victory in Lake Preston.

The Elks move to 5-1 after jumping out to a 42-0 lead at half and rolling up 431 yards as a team, 301 of them on the ground.

The Sharks fell to 0-6 with just 56 total yards as a team. Quarterback Josh McMasters accounted for 41 of those yards, going 4 of 11 passing for 25 yards and a pair of interceptions while running for 14 yards on 14 attempts. Lucas Peskey ran for 27 yards on four carries.

The Sharks travel to Colman-Egan Friday.

Wolsey-Wessington 41, Colman-Egan 14
WOLSEY — The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds, receiving votes in the most recent Class “9A” poll, jumped out to a quick lead with a long touchdown on the first offensive play of the game and continued the dominance of the game, defeating the Colman-Egan Hawks 41-14 Friday to earn a homecoming victory in Wolsey.

Warbird quarterback Caleb Richmond had a strong game, passing for 226 yards and five scores on 15 of 19 passing along with funning for 71 yards on 12 carried along with a touchdown.

Moshe Richmond led the Warbirds in receiving with nine catches for 127 yards and two scores. Colin Hughes caught three passes for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Peyton Rainford grabbed four balls for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Hughes added 38 yards on two carries on the ground, while Austin Wyant totaled 33 yards on seven carries.

Defensively, the Warbirds limited the Hawks (0-5) to 197 yards of total offense while picking up five sacks as a team. Hughes led W-W with eight solo tackles and three assisted stops.

The Warbirds move to 3-2 before traveling Friday to Platte-Geddes.


Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central 35, Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian 12
WESSINGTON SPRINGS — A close-played first half turned into a 35-12 homecoming victory for the Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Blackhawks Friday over the Tripp-Delmont/Armor/Andes Central/Dakota Christian Thunderhawks in Wessington Springs.

It was the second of four straight homecoming games that the Blackhawks will be part of this year.

The Blackhawks move to 5-0 behind a big game from quarterback Holden Havlik, going 18 of 25 through the air for 267 yards and three touchdowns as well as running for two scores among nine rushes for 42 yards overall.

Ryder Michalek led the Blackhawks’ receiving corps with six catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Blake Larson grabbed six balls for 72 yards and a score while also running for 39 yards on a pair of carries.

The Blackhawks defense had three players, Tyson Eddy, Blake Larson, and Colby Flowers, who each had nine tackles.

Brock Krueger added eight tackles and an interception.

The Thunderhawks drop to 2-3.

The Blackhawks travel to Mobridge to face Mobridge-Pollock Friday for the Tigers’ homecoming.
