Miller 3, Highmore-Harrold 0
MILLER — The Miller Rustlers finished the 2023 regular season with a dominant sweep over the Highmore-Harrold Pirates, 25-2, 25-13, and 25-21.
The Rustlers finish the year 25-6 behind six aces on 19 of 20 serving by Shaylee Anderberg.
Jolie Palmer led the defense with 19 digs and Heather Resel set up the offense with 16 assists on 49 of 49 setting.
Aleah Schlechter and Paige Werdel each had 10 kills for Miller, Schlechter on 22 of 26 hitting and Werdel on 22 of 25 hitting.
Highmore-Harrold, who finishes the year 12-16, was led by Kenidey Effling with 13 digs, three kills on 8 of 9 hitting, and an ace on 9 of 9 serving. Brooklyn Baloun led the Pirates with six assists on 57 of 58 setting.
Redfield 3, Tiospa Zina
REDFIELD — The Redfield Pheasants closed out the 2023 regular season with a 3-0 sweep of the Tiospa Zina Wambdi Tuesday in Redfield.
Set scores for Redfield, finishing 11-19 on the year, were 25-9, 25-23, and 25-10.
Katie Rozell led the Pheasants with 17 kills on 32 of 38 hitting while also leading the team with 15 digs. Chloe Zens was 16 of 16 serving with three aces.
Charli Jungwirth was 10 of 10 serving with a pair of aces while also totaling eight kills on 26 of 30 hitting. Hayden Gail sparked the offense with 19 assists on 65 of 65 setting.
The Pheasants won the JV match 25-8, 25-17. Redfield won the “C” match in three sets, 25-17, 20-25, and 15-12.
Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Wessington Springs 0
TULARE - The Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots finished the year with a 22-7 record after recording a sweep over the Wessington Springs Lady Spartans Tuesday in Tulare.
The Lady Patriots were led by Katelyn Schroeder’s 21 kills on 37 of 39 hitting and three blocks. She also led H-T with 14 digs.
Lila Johnson was 9 of 11 serving for the Lady Pats with four aces while also setting up the offense with 32 assists on 73 of 76 setting. Isabel Gilbert added two aces on 17 of 17 serving and Rebecca Huizenga was 20 of 20 hitting with 10 kills.
The Lady Spartans fell to 17-13. Alyssa Grohs had 12 digs and 10 assists while Raylee Fagerhaug had five kills on 23 of 24 hitting and had 10 digs.
Springs won the JV match.
Arlington 3, De Smet 0
ARLINGTON - The Arlington Cardinals closed the season at 12-20 with a sweep of the De Smet Bulldogs Tuesday in Arlington.
The Cardinals won with set scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-21.
Jo Steffensen led the Cardinals with 13 kills and had three service aces. Addie Steffenson added 11 kills and 16 digs.
Harley Johnson had four service aces and led the Arlington defense with 20 digs. Issie Steffensen set up the Cardinal offense with 31 assists.
De Smet finished with a 4-23 record despite 12 kills from Hazel Luethmers. Megan Dylla had four service aces and 12 assists for the Bulldogs.
Mount Vernon/Plankinton 3, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 0
FORESTBURG - The Mount Vernon/Plankinton Titans posted a sweep Tuesday over the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks by the scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-16 at Sanborn Central gym.
The Titans move to 18-10 behind nine kills from Reagan Rus. Madalynn Lorang dropped in three service aces while Vanessa Hoffman set up the MV/P offense with 20 assists.
The Blackhawks drop to 12-15 despite 11 kills from Liz Boschee and 14 assists and 13 digs from Kenzie Schley.
The Lady Warbirds moved to 26-3 behind 11 kills by Kailynn Dorris on 29 of 31 hitting. Dorris also nailed four aces as part of 13 of 15 serving.
Shae Uttecht led W-W with 14 digs and also had four aces on perfect 13 of 13 serving.
Redfield fell to 9-16. Charli Jungwirth was 7 of 10 serving with four aces. Chloe Zens led the defense with 18 digs.
Katie Rozell was 25 of 31 hitting for eight kills for the Pheasants.
The Lady Warbirds won the JV match 25-16, 25-20 and Refield took the “C” match 26-24 and 25-20.
Clark/Willow Lake 3, Sisseton 2
CLARK - The Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones won their home finale Monday in a back-and-forth five set match with the Sisseton Redman.
The Cyclones move to 10-13 by scores of 21-25, 25-22, 14-25, 25-19, and 15-9.
Clark/Willow Lake was led by Hannah Heiman with 11 kills on 38 of 43 hitting. Sarah Thonvold had 10 kills on 48 of 55 hitting and also led the defense with 59 digs.
Sami Brenden had two aces on 19 of 19 serving for the Cyclones. Kate Larson led C/WL with six blocks. Avery Lee had 44 digs as well.
