WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Avery Orth had 17 kills on 31 of 36 attacks and 11 solo blocks to help Wessington Springs to a 3-1 victory against Gregory on Saturday.

The set scores were 25-20, 25-10, 22-25 and 25-8.

Carissa Scheel also reached double figures in kills for the Lady Spartans with 10 on 33 of 35 spikes. Raylee Fagerhaug added five kills on 17 of 20 hits.

Fagerhaug also was 18 of 19 serving with four aces, while Orth had three aces on 13 of 14 serves and Hannah Heezen was perfect on 26 serves with two aces.

Alyssa Grohs amassed 33 assists on 96 of 98 sets for Wessington Springs. Fagerhaugh tallied a team-high 26 digs, while Heezen and Ashlyn Weber had 15 and 14, respectively.

Mya Determan had nine kills on 29 of 37 attacks to go along with three ace serves for Gregory. Dani VanDerWerff was 27 of 33 hitting with eight kills, while Asia VanDerWerff had 11 assists on 69 of 75 sets and had 12 digs. Savannah Schrader added 11 digs.

Wessington Springs, which is now 4-2, hosts Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Tuesday.

Miller 3, Potter County 0
MILLER — Using set scores of 25-10, 25-8 and 26-24, Miller swept Potter County on Saturday.

Shaylee Anderberg and Paige Werdel each had eight kills for the Rustlers, who improved to 4-2. Anderberg was 20 of 24 hitting, while Werdel went 13 of 18 hitting.

Gracen Werdel recorded six kills on 9 of 10 spikes, while Aleah Schlechter was 15 of 17 hitting with six kills.

Jolie Palmer was 11 of 11 serving with four aces for Miller. Joanlei Baker was 10 of 11 serving with three aces, while Journey Palmer and Anderberg each had two aces.

Heather Resel was perfect on 89 sets with 31 assists for the Rustlers. Jolie Palmer had a team-high 11 digs, while Resel had eight digs. Journey Palmer and Baker had six and four digs, respectively.

Kayden Cronin led Potter Country with eight kills. Ava Larson was perfect on 11 serves, while Taylyn Rausch was 10 of 10 serving.

Finlee Heien had six assists, while Meinke had 15 digs. Cronin and Rausch each had three blocks.

Miller travels to face Northwestern, which is ranked No. 3 in Class B, on Tuesday. Potter County, which is 3-4, hosts Highmore-Harrold on Tuesday in Gettysburg.
