WOLSEY —Three area teams participated in the Wolsey-Wessington volleyball invitational Saturday at Wolsey.
Wolsey-Wessington
The Lady Warbirds opened the day with a 25-4 and 25-5 sweep of Marty.
Shae Uttecht spent much of the match at the service line, putting up five aces on 20 of 20 serving. Clemente had seven kills on 11 of 11 hitting.
Kendal Uttecht had nine assists on 31 of 31 setting while Roxy Glanzer added six kills on 10 of 11 hitting.
Gabriela Zephier led the Marty defense with five blocks.
Wolsey-Wessington defeated Sioux Falls Lutheran 25-22 and 25-22.
The Lady Warbirds were led by Samara Clemente on the attack with nine kills on 19 of 19 hitting. Shae Uttecht had 21 digs to lead the defense.
Kendal Uttecht had 20 assists on 41 of 41 setting and also had three aces on 9 of 9 serving.
Sioux Falls Lutheran was led by Tessa Van Gerpen with eight kills and three service aces.
The Lady Warbirds swept Leola-Fredericks Area 25-10 and 25-9.
Clemente had nine kills on 14 of 15 hitting. Kendal Uttecht was 39 of 39 setting with 20 assists. Shae Uttecht had three aces on 12 of 12 serving.
Jill Ellwein led Leola-Frederick Area with 16 digs and also had two kills. Karli Achen had four aces.
Wolsey-Wessington swept Langford Area 25-23 and 25-16.
Kendal Uttecht had a pair of aces on 10 of 11 serving. Timber Haeder had six kills on 13 of 15 hitting and three blocks.
Eliana Darling had five kills and two blocks for the Lions.
The Lady Warbirds finished the day with a 6-2 record and are back in action Thursday on the road against Aberdeen Christian.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket
Sioux Falls Lutheran defeated Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in three sets, 22-25, 25-21, and 25-17.
Liz Boschee had 11 kills to lead the Blackhawks. Kaylie Robinson had 20 digs and Kenzie Schley had 14 assists.
Sophie Stubkjaer led the Sioux Falls Lutheran offense with 23 assists. Isabella Stubkjaer had seven aces and 18 digs.
The Blackhawks swept Marty 25-8 and 25-14.
Keylie Robinson had five kills to lead SCW. Kenzie Schley had five assists and Alexa Goertz had four kills and two blocks.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket swept Leola-Frederick Area 25-21 and 25-17.
Robinson had nine kills and two blocks. Kali Hofer led the Blackhawks with 11 assists while Kenzie Baruth paced the defense with nine digs.
Jill Ellwein had six kills for Leola-Frederick Area.
The Blackhawks swept Langford 25-10 and 26-24. Goertz had five aces and 11 digs to lead SCW. Robinson and Boschee each had seven kills. Hofer had 11 assists.
Alex Darling led Langford with 16 digs and had one ace on 11 of 12 serving.
The Blackhawks move to 6-4 on the season. They will host Wessington Springs at Woonsocket on Tuesday.
Sunshine Bible Academy
Marty pulled out a 25-18 and 25-22 sweep over Sunshine Bible Academy.
Marty was excellent serving, with 11 aces as a team.
Ciera Mickelson led SBA with two kills. Abby Hinman had two aces on 11 of 11 serving.
Leola-Frederick Area defeated the Crusaders, but final scores were not available.
Jill Ellwein had seven kills and two aces. Alivia Little had 17 digs for the Titans.
Dakota Boersma led the Crusaders with three kills on 10 of 15 hitting. Ciera Mickelson had four digs.
Langford Area defeated SBA, though set scores were unavailable.
Autumn Wegleitner led the Lions with nine kills on 10 of 11 hitting.
Breanna Thieman had a pair of service aces on 7 of 9 serving for SBA. Natasha Appel was 11 of 12 hitting for three kills.
The Crusaders fall to 0-7. They are on the road against Crow Creek Tuesday.
Non-Heartland games from the day
Langford Area defeated Leola/Frederick 27-25 and 25-15.
Hitchcock-Tulare wins Clark/Willow Lake tournament title
CLARK - The Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots, ranked third in the most recent Class B poll, moved to 11-0 on the season by winning four matches Saturday at the Clark/Willow Lake volleyball tournament.
The Lady Patriots opened the day with a 25-8, 25-7 victory over Waverly-South Shore.
Ella Johnson had 13 kills on 15 of 15 hitting. Cambree Hoekman nailed three aces on 19 of 19 serving. Katelyn Schroeder led the H-T defense with 11 digs and Lila Johnson had 13 assists on 20 of 21 setting.
The Lady Pats then swept Wilmot 25-11 and 25-15.
Schroeder had 11 kills on 14 of 15 hitting. Gracyn Bixler had three aces on 11 of 12 serving while Ella Johnson had two aces on 11 of 12 serving.
Hoekman had 10 digs to lead the defense while Lila Johnson set up the offense with 14 assists on 28 of 29 setting.
Hitchcock-Tulare then defeated the host Clark-Willow Lake 25-18 and 25-18.
Lady Patriot coach Jordan Opp recorded his 300th career coaching win on this match as Schroeder had eight kills on 18 of 19 hitting. Hoekman had 12 digs and Lila Johnson had 16 assists on 38 of 40 setting.
The Lady Patriots then made quick work of De Smet to close the day, winning 25-6 and 25-16.
Schroeder had a big game, nailing seven kills on 8 of 9 hitting and also going 15 of 15 serving with seven aces. Hoekman had 10 digs.
The Lady Patriots will host Aberdeen Christian at Tulare on Tuesday.
Miller 3, Potter County 0
GETTYSBURG - The third-ranked Miller Rustlers defeated the Potter County Lady Battlers Saturday in straight sets in Gettysburg.
Set scores for Miller were 25-16, 25-12, and 25-12.
Miller moved to 6-1 behind 12 kills from Paige Werdel on 24 of 26 hitting. Aleah Schlecter had 10 kills on 15 of 18 hitting.
Jolie Palmer had 22 digs and Olivia Resel set up the offense with 35 assists on 88 of 89 setting.
Werdel, Resel, and Emma Pugh each had two aces from the service line in the match.
The Rustlers will travel to Faulkton on Thursday.
