Clark/Willow Lake 3, Deuel 2
CLEAR LAKE — Clark/Willow Lake used a 15-11 win in the fifth set to escape with a 3-2 victory against Deuel on Thursday.

The Cyclones, who are now 6-9, opened the match with a 26-24 win in the first set and after a 25-21 win by Deuel staked a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-19 victory in the third set. The Cardinals forced a fifth game with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.

Shay Michalski was 24 of 27 hitting and had 13 kills for Clark/Willow Lake. Hannah Heiman also had 13 kills on 22 of 27 attacks.

Zoe Nichols amassed 35 assists on 110 of 122 sets.

Avery Lee recorded five aces on 31 of 33 serving for the Cyclones, while Heiman had two aces on 18 of 20 serves. Tehya Vig and Lee finished with 12 and 10 digs, respectively, and Michalski had eight blocks.

Clark/Willow Lake will travel to face De Smet on Tuesday.


Wessington Springs 3, Lower Brule 0
WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Using set scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-17, Wessington Springs swept Lower Brule on Thursday.
Avery Orth was 26 of 30 attacking with 15 kills for the Lady Spartans, who improved to 8-2. Carissa Scheel added seven kills on 18 of 22 spikes.

Orth also tallied eight aces on 23 of 24 serving, while Ashlyn Weber was 11 of 12 serving with three aces.  

Alyssa Grohs was perfect on 82 sets with 27 assists.

Raylee Fagerhaug, Orth and Hannah Heezen all recorded 14 digs for the Wessington Springs. Scheel and Orth each had a pair of blocks.

The Lady Spartans also won the junior varsity match with set scores of 25-16 and 25-12.

Wessington Springs returns to action today with a home match against Northwestern, which is ranked No. 3 in Class B.
