HURON — After dropping the opening set, James Valley Christian recorded three straight wins to claim the match against Corsica-Stickney on Thursday.

The Jaquars escaped with a 28-26 win the the opening set, but after that it was all Lady Vikings as they tallied set wins of 25-20, 25-9 and 25-14.

Kaylie Robinson converted on 20 of 24 attacks to finish with a team-high 13 kills for JVC, which is now 3-4 overall. Cora Hofer had 11 kills on 24 of 24 attacks.

Jacey Wipf was perfect on 19 serves for the Lady Vikings, while Alexa Goertz had 4 kills on 19 of 21 serving and Maggie Decker had four kills on 21 of 24 serving.

Robinson also led JVC with 12 assists on 35 of 42 sets. Andee Frandsen tallied a team-high 28 digs, while Addy Knight had 20 digs and Hofer had five blocks.

Braylle Bordewyk and Sophie DeLange each had nine kills for Corsica-Stickney, which is now 2-7. Ashly Lefers added eight kills.

Jacey Kemp recorded three aces for the Jaguars, while Bordewyk and DeLange had two aces each. DeLange and Bordewyk finished with 11 and 10 assists, respectively.

Kempf led the way defensively for Corsica-Stickney with 23 digs, while Lefers had 20 digs.

JVC returns to action Monday, when it hosts Howard.

Sisseton won the opening set 25-17, but the Pheasants were able to even the match with a 25-18 victory in the second set. Sisseton then needed a 33-31 win in the third set and a 28-26 win in the fourth set to claim the match.

It was the first win of the season for Sisseton, which is now 1-5.

Katie Rozell was 53 of 62 attacking with 22 kills to lead Redfield, which also is 1-5. Rozell also was the team leader in serving with three aces on 16 of 16 serves and had a solo and two assisted blocks.

Hayden Gall converted on 127 of 128 sets with 32 assists for the Pheasants. Kinley Smith added five kills on 14 of 17 hitting.

Gall and Chloe Zens each had eight digs.

Redfield won the junior varsity match with set scores of 28-26, 25-12 and 15-11. The Pheasants also won the C-match 25-19 and 25-15.

Redfield is at the Clark/Willow Lake Tournament in Clark today.

Webster Area 3, Clark/Willow Lake 2

The Cyclones won the opening set 25-22 only to have the Bearcats answer with a 25-22 win in the second set to even the match.

Webster Area used a 25-21 win in the third set to snag a 2-1 lead in the match, but Clark/Willow Lake forced the fifth set with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.

Haylee Tormanen finished with 11 kills on 28 of 33 attacks to lead the Cyclones, while Shay Michalski was 26 of 29 spiking with four kills.

Zoey Helkenn was perfect on 23 serves with an ace for Clark/Willow Lake, while Avery Lee had an ace on 24 of 26 serving. Zoe Nichols was 142 of 152 setting with 23 assists.

Hannah Heiman and Lee finished with 29 and 20 digs, respectively, for the Cyclones. Michalski had 13 blocks, while Thonvold had 12 blocks.

Clark/Willow Lake will host a tournament today in Clark.
