HURON — With a low testing day due to the holiday, the state only reported 1,158 new cases in Tuesday’s numbers from the South Dakota Department of Health. While the state still recorded 414 new positive cases and active cases remained over 6,000 (6,044), the numbers were quite low across the Heartland.
Beadle County recorded one new positive case Tuesday along with nine new recovered cases. That brings the county to 131 active cases, as of Tuesday’s numbers from DOH.
Only three other Heartland region counties recorded new positive cases on Tuesday, but each of them had multiple new positive cases. Kingsbury County recorded three new positive cases, Sanborn County recorded two new positive cases, and Spink County recorded four new positive cases.
Overall, however, the Heartland Region saw a decline in active cases, though the number is still quite high, at 276 active cases of the virus among the seven counties.
