After passing of commissioner, county looks to fill vacancy on commission

HURON –– The Board of Beadle County Commissioners are accepting letters of interest for a vacant commissioner position in District No. 4. Those interested in the position must be a registered voter residing within the boundaries of Commissioner District No. 4 (view attached maps or check the SD Secretary of State's voter information page). Letters of interest can be emailed to the county auditor at auditor@beadlesd.org or mailed to 450 3rd St. St. SW, Suite 201, Huron, SD 57350.
Letters must be received by end of business on Monday, June 23, to be eligible for review. If you have any questions, please contact a county commissioner or the auditor at 605-353-8400.
Beadle County Commissioners will be reviewing letters of interest at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 24. Unless additional time is needed to interview or find a suitable person to fill the vacancy, the successful candidate will assume duties as county commissioner at the Tuesday, July 8, regular meeting.
The vacancy for County Commissioner District No. 4 occurred midway through a four-year term. Pursuant to SDCL 3-4-6, the successor will need to run for election in 2026 (two-year term) and 2028 (four-year term).
