Beef processor pauses CUP application

Posted

HURON — East Dakota Premium Beef, LLC, announced Thursday that it is pausing the Conditional Use Permit application filed with the City of Huron, for a proposed 150-head per day beef processing facility.

A new CUP application will be forthcoming. The action taken removes the project from the agenda for Monday’s Huron City Commission meeting.

The decision comes after presenting the proposed project to the City Hearing Examiner on Feb. 21.

“We appreciate everyone that came to the City Hearing Examiner,” said Tammy Krein, Business Development Administrator for East Dakota Premium Beef.
“We want this project to be the best neighbor that it can possibly be, and part of that effort includes listening to community concerns. We’ve listened, and we are currently working with the City to reevaluate our location in Huron.”

The group remains committed to continuing the project’s development efforts and delivering the project to the Huron community – boosting economic development for the area, and for cattle producers in the State.
