Bobcats ink win on pitch against Huron

BROOKINGS — With the help of three goals in the opening half, Brookings claimed a 5-1 victory in a boys’ soccer match with Huron on Tuesday.

“Brookings played a physical game today,” Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. “We also had several costly mistakes in the first half that led to three goals.”

Lay Mwe Thaw scored on a corner kick in the 50th minute to open the scoring in the second half. It would be lone goal of the game for the Tigers.

“We mad some changes at halftine and began to move the ball a little better and get some things going,” Branaugh said. “It just wasn’t enough tonight. We will regroup and be ready for Mitchell on Thursday.”

Micah Larson and Eh Ja Beh Win split time in the net for Huron, which is now 2-3-1, and each had two saves.

Brookings also edged the Tigers 1-0 in the junior varsity game.

Klo Eh Hser had five saves as the goalie for Huron.

The Tigers will travel to face  Mitchell at 6 p.m. Thursday at Joe Quintal Field.

Girls
Brookings came away with a 9-0 victory against Huron in the girls’ game.

Hkee Hser had 25 saves for the Tigers, who are now 0-5.

The Bobcats also won the JV game 12-0.

Win Ni had 11 saves in the opening half for Huron, while Baw Eh had four saves in the second half.

The Tigers will travel to face Mitchell at 4 p.m. Thursday.
