Brookings 14U sweeps Huron Tuesday

HURON — The Brookings Black 14U outscored the Huron 13/14U Tigers 28-2 over a pair of blowout wins Tuesday at Klock Field in Huron.
Huron put eight baserunners on in the opener but could not bring any of them around. Joshua Gilbert had a single and a walk.
Ryker Shelton walked twice.
Colt Culver had a double and stole a base.
Parker Bischoff opened the game on the mound, allowing 12 runs, only four of which were earned, on seven hits and four walks over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out five. Noah Koops got the final two outs.
Huron actually held a brief lead in the nightcap, scoring two runs in the first inning to take a 2-1 lead.
Brookings got three in the top of the second to take the lead back and then exploded for 10 runs in the top of the third before claiming a 16-2 run-rule victory.
Culver allowed 14 runs (seven earned) over 2 2/3 innings on seven hits and seven walks, striking out two. Sean Janes pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two.
Gilbert had a single and a walk. Shelton and Nate Gray each stole a base.
Huron 13/14U will take a 4-15-1 record on the road Monday against Sioux Falls Post 15 13/14.
