Huron wrestling hosts first dual of season against Brookings

HURON — The Huron Tigers boys’ and girls’ wrestling teams hosted the Brookings Bobcats Tuesday night at Huron Arena and the Bobcats proved to be poor guests, earning a 47-25 win in the boys’ dual and pulling off a 42-18 win in the girls’ match.
Boys
The Huron boys got three pinfall wins over the Bobcats, as Moses Gross stuck James Fitzpatrick in 1:25 at 150 pounds and Hser Wah outlasted Dylan Reynolds at 285, with a pin in 4:34. Bryan Ramirez had the quickest match of the night, as the Huron 215-pounder pinned Carson Loehr in 36 seconds.
Shar Ler Moo Ser earned an 18-10 major decision at 175 and Brady Meyer took a 10-8 decision at 126 for the Tigers.
Girls
The Brookings girls’ wrestling team emerged with seven match wins - five pins and two forfeits - en route to the 42-18 win.
Huron’s lone contested win in the dual came from Naw Htoo Ywe, who pinned Claire Milliron in 1:26 at 100 pounds. Paola Fernandez at 185 and Kaitlyn Florey at 250 received forfeit wins for the Tigers.
Both Tiger teams are back in action Thursday as Huron travels to Harrisburg.
