Camp Gilbert, a camp for kids with type 1 diabetes, will be held June 15-20 at Lake Poinsett Methodist Camp near Arlington.
Huron Noon Lions Club and Huron Eye Opener Lions Club offer full scholarships to Beadle County youth who apply and are accepted.
Camper on-line registration is now open at www.campgilbert.com.
Camp Gilbert is designed for youth ages 8 to 18 with type 1 diabetes to enjoy all the excitement of summer camp without limitations. There will be water activities, boating, fireside sing-alongs, games, and more.
This is a time for learning with educational sessions covering nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle management. Campers build confidence in managing their diabetes while having a blast with friends who truly understand their journey.
Camp Gilbert staff provide assistance for campers around the clock. Medical staff includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, social workers, diabetes educators, dietitians, adult volunteers, and experienced camp counselors.
