Castlewood gets past Warbirds in Region 2B

HURON — The Castlewood Warriors are one step closer to a return trip to the State B tournament, as they defeated the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds 62-46 in a Region 2B semifinal game Friday night at Huron Arena.

The Warriors outscored the Warbirds 38-17 over the second and third quarters to turn a three-point deficit into an 18 point lead.

Bryon Lau scored a game-high 21 points to lead Castlewood, while Lane Tvedt scored 14 and had five assists.

Luke Baumberger chipped in 11 points for the Warriors, who will take a 19-3 record into next week’s SoDak 16.

The Warbirds, which close the season with a record of 17-5, were led my Moshe Richmond’s 13 points, while Caleb Richmond added 11. Tate French led all rebounders with 10 caroms in the game.

Castlewood is seeded third for the SoDak 16 round and will tangle with Centerville on Tuesday, at a site to be determined.
