HURON — You don’t have to be an expert birder, but if you like birds - and who doesn’t like birds - here is your opportunity to get out and participate in an annual outdoor event.
The Audobon’s Beadle County Christmas bird count will take place from 8 a.m. to noon and from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14. Again, you don’t have to be an expert birder to participate, you will be able to join a group that includes at least one experienced birdwatcher.
The count is co-sponsored by the Friends of Maga Ta-Hohpi and the U.S, Fish and Wildlife Service. If you’re interested in participating in this event, there will be an 8 a.m. meeting on the third floor of the Federal Bldg., in Huron on Dec.14 for instructions and to divide into groups and routes. Counters will return around noon to eat a potluck lunch (so bring a dish to pass) and discuss what was seen during the morning, before heading back out for the afternoon. Participants will return to the Federal Building around 4 p.m. and turn in their count.
To come and join in on the fun, RSVP to fdam@hur.midco.net or for questions and more information call Frank at 352-5638.
