HURON — The City of Huron accepted a bid for the 2024 street milling and overlay project during the City Commission meeting Monday evening.
City engineer Brett Runge presented the bid to the commission, reporting that Asphalt Paving & Materials Company of Huron submitted the low bid that met specification requirements with a bid of $838,539.68. This is under the proposed budget by engineering.
A map of the streets that will be milled in 2024 is available on the City of Huron website.
The commission approved a payment request to Ferguson Enterprises LLC for the water meter replacement project of $92,018.96. Water and sewer superintendent Rob Rieger reported that the project is now 86 percent complete across the city.
Fire chief Ron Hines presented the commission an initial fire department policy manual. Hines stated that there has never been anything official for the department to refer to, and he worked with Human Resources and the city attorney to draft this manual. It was approved.
