HURON –– The Huron City Commission on Monday night heard from library director Angela Bailey about a new book return and mailbox that the Huron Public Library would like to install in Wolsey on the Wolsey-Wessington school grounds.
Bailey stated that a number of Wolsey residents enjoy picking up books at the library. The location on the school grounds would allow for security cameras to view any potential damage or vandalism. It’s been approved by the library board and the Wolsey-Wessington school superintendent.
Commissioners questioned whether a city vehicle would be used to transport books and whether a legal agreement should be put together regarding any potential liability with the return box. Bailey stated that she will work on getting that put together. The commission approved her to move forward with the program.
The commission also approved the transfer of the land lease agreement on the cell tower near Memorial Park from CommNet Cellular to The Towers LLC, with a start date for construction of July 1.
A change order and payment request were approved to Asphalt Paving & Materials Co. for spring milling and overlay. The change order for $362,618.33 was approved as the bid was lower than expected, allowing the city to add more streets to be milled and overlaid this spring. The payment request for the overall spring work for $1,160,980.12 was also approved.
Commissioners also:
