HURON — Bender Sewer and Drain, through a contract with the City of Huron, will begin sanitary sewer cleaning maintenance, mostly in northwest Huron.
Work will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18 and should be completed by Sept. 22.
This cleaning is done with a low pressure jetting machine. Despite the low pressure, occasionally, pressure in the sewer lines may force water out of one or more toilets, showers, tubs, sinks and floor drains.
To help alleviate the risk, the city is asking residents in the affected areas to pour a gallon of water into floor drains, laundry tubs and shower drains, to fill any dried-out traps. doing his should prevent odors entering your home.
The cleaning may clear water out of traps, so after cleaning is done, it is recommended that all drains be refilled, to keep odors from entering the home.
A map of the affected areas is available on the City of Huron’s website.
