City renews trailer court licenses

HURON — The Huron City Commission Monday evening approved five trailer court license renewals as part of a brief public meeting.

Renewals were granted for Sheltered Trailer Court, 1500 3rd St SW, Huron Mobile Estates, 541 Ohio Ave NW, Huron Mobile Court, 602 Jersey Ave NE, Woody’s Trailer Court, 1350 4th St SW, and Prairie Villa, 1400 21st St SW.

Commissioners also:
• Approved a noise permit and granted permission to close the northern portion of the alley behind Hurst’s Corner, 201 Dakota Ave S, for a bean bag tournament on Sept. 16.

• Set August 21 as the public hearing date to consider a retail on-off sale malt beverage and South Dakota farm wine license as well as a retail on-off sale wine and cider license for Tokyo Huron LLC, doing business as Tokyo Sushi and Hibachi, 2233 Kansas Ave SE.
• Approved the hire of Meagan Eggleston-Davis for the Project Engineer position.
• Accepted the resignation of Kuzo Ehkusoe, Airport Maintenance Technician, effective Aug. 17.
• Approved transfer of Leslie Brondsema from the children’s librarian to cataloger with the Huron Public Library, effective Aug. 21.
• Approved to post internally for the children’s librarian position and advertise if necessary.
• Approved a raffle for American Legion Post 7 for Nov. 11 at the Huron High School Auditorium.

The commission then entered into an executive session for contractual matters and finished the meeting with a work session regarding the 2024 budget.
