Clark/Willow Lake girls win title at Don Ray Invite

WHITE — With four of the top 10 runners in the field, Clark/Willow Lake won the girls’ varsity title during the Don Ray Invite on Saturday at Six Mile Golf Course.

The Cyclones finished with 14 points to earn the win. James Valley Christian, Arlington and Dell Rapids St. Mary all finished with 42 points, but the Lady Vikings claimed the second spot based on a tiebreaker.

Arlington was third and Dell Rapids St. Mary was fourth. Baltic rounded out the top five with 48, while De Smet was sixth at 53.

Kamryn Nesheim won the varsity girls’ race for Clark/Willow Lake in 20:09.22, while teammates hadley Gjerde and Emm Bochek were seventh and eighth, respectively, at 21:57.25 and 21:58.00. Cadence Bockek was 10th for the Cyclones at 22:04.53.

Adalyn Gross of De Smet was ninth at 21:58.97.

Estelline/Hendricks won the boys’ title with 14 pionts, while Deubrook Area was second at 22. Deuel was third at 23, followed by Arlington at 37 and Clark/Willow Lake at 42.

Estelline/Hendricks’ Cooper Schaefer won the boys’ race in 18:26.22.

Cooper Pommer of Clark/Willow Lake was third at 19:02.12. Payton Moore of Redfield was 13th at 20:09.72, followed by Taylor Merkel of Clark/Willow Lake at 20:13.12.

Clark/Willow Lake also won the girls’ junior varsity title, while Elkton-Lake Benton won the boys’ JV title.
