Comfort food at Medi's Mac Shack

Posted

HURON — Huron native Jeff Medi is new to this years food court at the South Dakota State Fair.

Medi’s Mac Shack is open for business, offering the comfort food staple Mac and Cheese in a bowl, which customers may top with buffalo chicken, brisket, fire cheetos or pulled pork.

Additional choices at Medi’s Mac Shack include a wide variety of jumbo hot dogs, sloppy joes, pretzels and cold drinks.

Medi also offers breakfast, beginning at 7 a.m. and staying late if you have the munchies after a concert at the grandstand.

Medi, who also owns Medi’s Inc., has sold reusable heat and cold compressions in the Fine Arts Building for the past few years and has decided to expand.

Medi lived in Huron until 1981 before moving to Sioux Falls, said the Mac Shack is being run this year by his son and his son’s best friend, cousins and Jeff himself.

“I went to the Sioux Empire Fair last year with my food and it went very well, I also went to the fair this year and it did great, so I decided to try it here at the State Fair,” said Medi. “Its a way to come back to Huron and see family and have a good time.” Medi’s Mac Shack is located in the Food Court #7 NE corner.
