County approves 5-year bridge plan

Posted

HURON — The Beadle County Commission and area township representatives heard the county’s five-year Bridge Improvement Plan Tuesday morning from county highway supervisor Jason Fritzsche.

Fritzsche noted that 10 bridges in the county are currently in the federal program, with two in the state program.

Two bridges were constructed within the country utilizing Bridge Improvement Grant funding while one was built utilizing county funds.

The bridge that the county purchased was, in essence, a pre-fabricated bridge that was able to be put into place, cutting down on down time for the structure and providing a cost-effective way to meet bridge needs in the county.

Fritzsche stated that he is working with the state to have similar style bridges approved for funding in the future.

The commission approved the resignation of Zack Lindblad from the highway department as well as approving the listing and advertising for an employee by the department.

Commissioners also approved a variance request for H/D Ringnecks LLC, for an expansion to its current facilities at 39754 200th Street, which would make the facility less than 75 feet from the road.

The next Beadle County Commission meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m. on the second floor of the county courthouse.
