HURON — The Huron School District’s Agricultural Program has received a significant boost thanks to the generous support of Dakota Provisions.
The local meat processing company has committed an exclusive sponsorship of $40,000 over five years to help enhance educational opportunities for students interested in agriculture.
The funding will ensure hands-on learning experiences and advanced equipment and support curriculum development to prepare students for careers in the agricultural sector. The district expresses deep gratitude for this remarkable investment in the future of its students.
Huron School District Superintendent Dr. Kraig Steinhoff said, “We are incredibly thankful to Dakota Provisions for their dedication to our community and commitment to fostering agricultural education. This donation will provide invaluable resources for our students and help them develop skills essential for the workforce.”
Dakota Provisions has long been a strong advocate for supporting local initiatives and promoting regional agricultural development. The company’s leadership emphasized their desire to help equip young learners with the tools they need to succeed in this vital industry.
The $40,000 contribution over five years includes naming rights on the new mobile meats lab. The mobile meats lab and shared Career & Technical Education (CTE) partnership among Huron, Wolsey-Wessington, Hitchcock-Tulare, and Sanborn Central came to fruition through District 22 Senator David Wheeler’s Senate Bill 59 in 2024. The group of schools were awarded $1.5 million dollars for the expansion of CTE programming.
