David Anthony Reed, 37, of Huron


HURON — David Anthony Reed, 37, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in Renton, Wash.

His service will be Saturday, March 18, at First Christian Church of Tacoma in Tacoma, Wash. The Rev. Laura Jennison Reed, his sister-in-law, will officiate.

David Anthony Reed was born April 17, 1985, to Louise Van Poll and Ronald Reed at Wenatchee, Wash. He lived with his family in Seattle, Shoreline and Huron. He was baptized at the Lake City Christian Church in Seattle, earned his GED in Huron and attended Mitchell Technical Institute.

He loved the mountains and Puget Sound in Washington and his family in South Dakota. He worked as a pressman for the Seattle Times, as a warehouseman, a metal fabricator and in construction.

He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Life scout. He loved his family, relished reading science fiction and fantasy, and would make new friends everywhere he went. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and strangers alike.

He is survived by his parents, Louise Van Poll and Ronald Reed of Huron; three siblings, Joshua (Laura) Reed of Oak Park, Ill., Carrie Reed of North Liberty, Iowa, and Joseph (Christine) Reed of Renton; and one niece, Amelia Reed, of Oak Park.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marian (Freese) and C.C. ‘Van’ Van Poll and Hildegard (Hecker) and Marvin Reed.

Memorials may be sent to the Union Gospel Mission in Seattle or the Huron Humane Society.
