De Smet wins in holiday tourney

BROOKINGS — De Smet, which is the top-ranked team in Class B, limited Chester Area to just six points in the second half en route to a 52-24 victory during the Entringer Classic on Saturday.
The Bulldogs, who are now 6-1, led 28-18 at the half and outscored the Flyers 20-0 in the third quarter.
Grant Wilkinson had a game-high 16 points to lead De Smet. Kadyn Fast had 12 points, while Trace Van Regenmorter and Britt Carlson had eight and seven points, respectively.
Wilkinson also had nine rebounds to help the Bulldogs to a 43-23 advantage on the boards. Tom Aughenbaugh recorded a team-high five assists, while Fast had three steals.
Jaxton Opdahl had eight points to lead Chester Area, which is now 3-4. Layke Wold, JD Prorok and Will Seeley each had five rebounds.
De Smet will host Arlington on Friday.
The Flyers are back in action Thursday, when they open the Big East Conference Tournament against Parker in Garretson.
