De Smet defeats St. Thomas More

MITCHELL — The De Smet Bulldogs rebounded from a loss Tuesday with a 12-4 opening quarter against the St. Thomas More Cavaliers and led the entire way for a 57-45 victory Saturday at the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

The Bulldogs moved to 9-2 with three players in double-figure scoring, led by Kadyn Fast with 14 points. Britt Carlson added 11 points and George Jensen had 10 points for De Smet.

Grant Wilkinson nabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.

The Cavs (8-3) were led by Turner Thompson with 18 points.

The Bulldogs host top-ranked Castlewood today.

MITCHELL — After finding themselves down 19-13 after the first period, the Hanson Beavers outscored the Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones 38-23 over the next two quarters and then withstood a 22-point fourth-quarter barrage by the Cyclones to win 66-64 Saturday to open the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Jayce Slaba led the Beavers with 32 points.

The Cyclones were led by eighth-grader Sullivan Felberg with 24 points, including six three-point buckets.

Bo Begeman added 14 points and Emmerson Larson put in 10 points for C/WL. Larson and Aaron Zemlicka each grabbed seven rebounds.

Clark/Willow Lake will host Great Plains Lutheran in Willow Lake today.
