ESTELLINE –– The De Smet Bulldogs track and field teams had a strong showing Thursday at the Estelline Sno Bird track meet in Estelline.

The Bulldog girls finished third. Colman-Egan ran away with the team title, with 316 points. Deuel finished second with 147 points and De Smet came in with 133 points.

The Iroquois/Lake Preston girls tallied 30 points and James Valley Christian finished with 27 team points.

Great Plains Lutheran outpaced the boys’ team title with 270 points. Deuel finished second with 123 team points and Colman-Egan (87) finished third.

De Smet was fourth with 74 points, James Valley finished fourth with 49 points, and Iroquois/Lake Preston finished with 27 team points.

De Smet’s Charli McCune was the lone area athlete to win two individual titles, sweeping the girls’ 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Teammate Ivey Schoenfelder won the discus throw and Hazel Luethmers won the high jump.

Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Hadlee Holt finished second to Schoenfelder in discus and took the title in the shot put.

Grant Wilkinson (shot put) and Samuel Gigov (discus) won throwing titles for De Smet. Kaden Ober won the 3200-meter run for JVC and the Vikings also won the 4-by-400 relay.
