WATERTOWN — Doris Kalahar, age 81, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at a local care center.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, at First Congregational Church in Huron.
Visitation is at the First Congregational Church, prior to the service. Burial is at Restlawn Memory Gardens. A gathering will follow the service at the Campus Center in Huron.
Doris was born in Parkston, February 23, 1943, to Elder and Emma Magstadt. Doris grew up on a farm alongside her two sisters.
She graduated from Tripp High School in 1961. She then pursued her passion for beauty at Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls. For more than 45 years, she brought joy and confidence to countless clients.
Dory was a creative spirit, finding joy in crochet, knitting, sewing, drawing, and painting. She assisted in creating many school artistic projects with her children, as she derived her greatest purpose from being a mom and raising her two daughters, who were the center of her world.
Dory is survived by her sister Carol Phinney, two daughters, Jody (Casey) Kalahar and Julie Kalahar; grandchildren Hailley, Mason, and Mahala, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elder and Emma; her sister, Darlene Woolman; her brother-in-law, Verlin Woolman; and her brother-in-law, Harlan Phinney.
