Mrs. Ann Gilbert, second grade teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic School, was presented the Mike Bauer Educator Award. Mrs. Gilbert was one of three teachers who applied for the honor.
She plans to use the monetary gift to take her students to the Laura Ingalls Wilder homestead in De Smet. Her hope is for her students to learn respect and understand the role God played in pioneering Americans.
Mike Bauer was a blessed friend to the late Mrs. Vi Gilbertson. He expressed love for his neighbor by helping with yard work and being a listening ear, all without expecting compensation.
Vi’s daughter Deb Gilbertson recognized and appreciated Mike’s efforts as a long time friend and neighbor. In memory of Vi and to honor Mike for his charity, Deb has donated funds to the Knights of Columbus to establish an annual teacher award.
The Knights of Columbus, a fraternal organization for Catholic men, has had a long tradition of supporting HTCS with proceeds from their annual classic car show. If you know of a Catholic man over 18 who could benefit from being a loyal Knight, please call the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish office at 605-352-2203.
