HURON — The Golfing for a Cause Breast Cancer Awareness tournament is set for Wednesday, June 12, at Broadland Creek National Golf Course, and there is still time to register, according to Levi Kary, HRMC Foundation executive director.

“This early-season best ball scramble promises to be an entertaining day on the course with games, pin prizes and a ton of fun!” said Kary. “Proceeds from the event benefit the ‘We’ve Got You Covered’ program, which pays the cost of mammograms for women in need who may not have insurance or are underinsured.”

Mammograms remain the gold standard for catching breast cancer in its early stages. The American Cancer Society estimates about 310,720 new breast cancer cases among women in the U.S. will be diagnosed this year. Early detection is the key to successful outcomes and screening is available locally at Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) with 3D mammography. Mammograms can be scheduled with no referral from a physician for eligible individuals.

There is still time to register your team to support local women’s health, Register at Broadland Creek Golf Course or call the HRMC Foundation at 605-353-6319. The cost for a 4-person team is $300, including golf cart and green fees. Prizes awarded for best pink outfit and best team pink attire. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

HRMC Foundation is committed to the health of the community and to ensuring high-quality health care is always available close to home and events like Golfing for a Cause further that mission. More information about is available online at www.hrmcfoundation.org.
