HARRISBURG - Harrisburg and Brandon Valley finished in the top two spots for team points in the boys’ and girls’ competitions on Saturday at the ESD conference track meet, held in Harrisburg.

Brandon Valley took the boys’ title with 165.5 team points, with Harrisburg coming in second with 144.5 points. Yankton finished a distant third, with 93.5 team points.

It was a similar story in the girls’ team competition, where Harrisburg edged out Brandon Valley for the win, 159 to 154.5. Pierre was a distant third with 90 points.

Huron finished tenth in both team races, finishing the boys’ side with nine team points and the girls’ competition with 28.5 points.

For the Huron boys, a pair of personal bests led the Huron throwers to two places, as Ty Kleinsasser took eighth in shot put with a heave of 46 feet, 8.5 inches, and Anderson Porisch threw the implement 144 feet, 8 inches to come in sixth. Kolby Hofer took fifth in the javelin.

Leon Waldner had a day of personal bests in jumping, and while he fell just short of placing in the long jump, he was able to secure eighth place in the triple jump for Huron.

On the girls’ side, throwers also led the way as three Tigers placed in the javelin - Hylton Heinz second, Alyse Davis third, and Maggie Storm tied for eighth, and Isabelle Kremer took fifth in the discus. Zaniyah Lanier took eighth in the 100-meter dash.

The Huron 4x100 relay team of Cameron Ruth, Lanier, Reagan Bischoff and Ava Wambach took sixth with a time of 51.22 seconds. The 4x800 relay team of Chloe Carr, Josie Vlieger, Ellie Puterbaugh and Lily Meyer finished eighth. The medley relay squad of Wambach, Lanier, Olivia Tschetter and Carr took fourth with a time of 4:30.85.
