HURON — Despite managing just one win in two matches on Tuesday, Huron boys’ tennis coach Tim Hedblom was pleased with the way his team battled against tougher opponents.
“We had some very close matches that we came up short on,” Hedblom said. “We had three matches we lost in tie-breakers.”
Harrisburg recorded a 9-0 shutout against the Tigers in the first of two matches.
“We played well against a very tough Harrisburg team,” Hedblom said. “The boys continue to make improvements and did not give up.”
In the second match, Sioux Falls Christian emerged with an 8-1 victory against the Tigers.
The lone win for Huron came in No. 3 doubles, where Matthew Thin and Say Poe combined for a 10-8 victory.
“I am proud of how the boys battled,” Hedblom said. “We did some things very well and found some things we need to work on.”
The Tigers will host Rapid City Central in a 3 p.m., match on Friday at Huron Courts. The two teams will be joined by Aberdeen Central and Mitchell for a quadrangular at 9 a.m. Saturday at Huron Courts.
