Three Huron area officials and coaches recognized at state track meet

Three Huron residents were recognized with special awards Saturday, at the 2024 South Dakota State Track and Field Meet in Sioux Falls.
On the left is Robert DeBoer, who was named the National Federation of High School Officials Association’s Official of the Year for South Dakota. DeBoer was a longtime coach and teacher in the Huron School District, and continues to be an official at local sporting events.
In the center is Jory Wipf, Track and Field coach at James Valley Christian. Wipf was recognized for his 25-plus year coaching career at JVC, by the S.D. High School Coaches Association. He has led Vikiing teams to state titles in both Track and Field and Soccer in his career.
On the right is longtime official Steve Charron, with his wife Sheila. Charron was named the National Federation of High School Officials Association’s Section 5 Active Official of the Year. Charron has been a constant at local and state cross country as well as track and field meets in the upper midwest.
