The Huron High School orchestra, comprised of 93 students, will share holiday music during several events this year.
Dr. Beth Neitzert is director of both the high school and middle school orchestras.
A schedule of performances include:
• Thursday, Dec. 5, the Salvation Army Christmas Basket program will feature the high school orchestra at 6:30 p.m., followed by the middle school orchestra at 6:55 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 7, they will perform at Christmas at the Capitol in Pierre.
It begins with a duet by Neitzert and Teresa Smith at 10:30 a.m., followed by the middle school honors orchestra at 11 a.m. and the high school Chamber orchestra at 11:30 a.m.
• Tuesday, Dec. 10, the middle school honors orchestra will have a community tour. The group will perform at Avantara at 10:30 a.m.; the Huron Senior Center at noon; Huron Public Library at 1 p.m.; and StoneyBrook at 2 p.m.
• Monday, Dec. 16, will be the high school Christmas concert, with the Chamber orchestra providing entertainment for a Christmas in the Commons meal.
The concert begins at 7 p.m., featuring the high school orchestra, high school choir, and the high school band
• Tuesday, Dec. 17, will be the high school Chamber orchestra Community Tour. They will perform at the senior center at noon and at Peaceful Pines at 1:30 p.m.
