HURON — Kolby Hofer tied a school record in the javelin as Huron hosted the Huron Invitational Friday at Tiger Stadium.

The record for boys’ javelin for Huron was set just last year by Tyson Pfitzer at 143 feet, 7 inches. The distance earned Hofer fourth place in the event.

The best finish of the day for the Tigers was in the girls’ javelin, where sisters Hamtyn and Hylton Heinz finished second and third, respectively, with throws of 107-1 and 98-8, respectively.

Bryan Ramirez of Huron had a pair of second-place finishes in the shot put and discuss, hurling the shot 47 feet, six and a half inches, and tossing the discus 148 feet, nine inches. Huron's Thackery Hanson finished second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash.

Alex Schumacher of Miller won the boys’ 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.26 and finished third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:38.54.

Multiple athletes won two events at the meet, but Aberdeen Central’s Madison Hochstetter was the lone athlete to win three individual events, taking medalist honors in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, and long jump.
