Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation scholarship applications are open as of Jan. 1.
Applications can be found online at www.hrmcfoundation.org and are due March 15.
Two types of scholarships are available to the community through the Foundation, in addition to a program funded by HRMC employees to support scholarships for staff and their immediate families.
Healthy Huron Commitment Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship designed to address high-need areas in the medical field. In exchange for a work commitment, the length of which depends on their program, the recipient has their education costs covered.
This support allows the student to concentrate on their studies without the financial burden of schooling, which gives them a great opportunity to succeed. The Commitment Scholarship can be used in conjunction with the Build Dakota
Scholarship to often provide full-ride opportunities for technical college education in addition to supporting students enrolled at universities.
In 2024, the Foundation awarded $85,000 in commitment scholarships to eight local students pursuing health related fields.
For students who aren’t ready to commit to return to the community after completing their program, the Foundation offers the Interest Scholarship. While the award amounts are smaller, the Interest Scholarship can help cover some of the costs of an education in health care.
The HRMC Foundation provides these scholarship opportunities through the generosity of donors to ensure high quality care is available in Huron for years to come.
Please call the HRMC Foundation at 605-353-6319 if you have questions about applying for a scholarship or if you would like to discuss how your donation can impact the future of local health care.
