Huber, Rink earn All-ESD for Tigers

WATERTOWN — A pair of Huron golfers earned all-conference honors during the Eastern South Dakota Girls’ Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

With one of her best outings of the season, senior Bryn Huber finished in a three-way tied for eighth for the with an 82 to lead the Tigers. She opened with a birdie on the first hole and then eight pars during the round to secure her spot in the top 10.

Huron’s other senior Olivia Rink finished just two strokes back with an 84, which placed her in a three-way tie for 12th.

Her round also included one birdie and six pars.

Having just two golfers in the event, the Tigers did not qualify for a team score.

With three golfers inside the top 10, Mitchell won the Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ golf title. The Kernels finished at 246, which was five strokes better than Aberdeen Central. Watertown was third with a 263, while Pierre was fourth at 268 and Yankton was fifth at 284.

Rounding out the field of teams were Brookings at 287, Harrisburg at 287 and Brandon Valley at 304.
Allison Meyerink of Mitchell used a 4-under-par 68 to earn the medalist honors. She was the lone golfer in the field to finish under par.

Olivia Braun of Aberdeen Central was second at 74, followed by Hadley Hart of Pierre at 77 and Riley Zebroski of Watertown at 78. Emma Dohrer of Aberdeen Central at Delilah Fuhs of Brookings shared the fifth spot with scores of 79.

The Class AA golfers will close the season at the State Tournament, which is scheduled for June 5-6 at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre.
